Do you want to win some money for your Jr. High or High school Art Department and help promote a worthy cause?

March 7, 2012 is National Spread the Word to End the Word Day. This campaign promotes RESPECT and EMPOWERS youth to speak up and tell their friends and families to stop saying the word “retarded”. Over the next few weeks, the Down Syndrome Network and the C-U Autism Network will be broadcasting brief PSA’s on WCIA 3 to promote discontinuation of this word and to promote the new r-word: RESPECT. Our organizations want to get the word out to all school aged children to stop using this r-word and start using the new r-word: RESPECT.

As an Art Department, we are asking for your help to Spread the Word. Art has always helped to empower youth to think outside the box and flourish with creativity. We are asking that each school help empower youth by creating a chalk illustration on their school sidewalk.

We know this is a last minute event, but hope you will take this special opportunity to help promote a worthy cause and possibly win some money for your schools Art Department.
